The Groom
SLAM! I heard the front door of a 200 seat lecture hall emphatically close in the middle of my math 100 class at UH. As I looked up from my campus newspaper, I saw the culprit: Emily wearing an ice pack looking around for a seat 20 minutes into class. Thats when I knew folks! In all honesty, God put us together. There is no way that we should have met each other. It started out with me seeing her in a newspaper article and thinking she was really pretty but I'd never meet her. The odds narrowed a little when I heard the door of that lecture hall slam, but seriously?! one out of 200 is still a fat chance. There was no way I was going up to talk to her. Then, she showed up on the steps of the house I was living in. I figured now would be a good time to say something so I puffed out my chest and mumbled the very smooth line of "aren't you in my math class?" I later found out that she thought that was a little creepy being that it was a 200 seat auditorium.
Thanks to Cat Fowler, we met and started talking on the phone (only a half an hour a day per her father's rules). It was a cold, rainy day when I rode my beat up moped to Pauoa valley at Booth park. After talking to her dad I asked her if we could be an exclusive couple. The next three years are kind of a blur, really. Lots and lots of volleyball. The stan sheriff was like a second home for us between scrimmages, picking her up from practices, and watching all the games I could. Thats why when it came time to propose, I couldn't think of anywhere more special. Some couples have a restaurant, some have a beach, and we had the arena. I could write for hours and hours about funny stories and what not, but in short, there is nobody on this planet that makes me a better all around person than Em and I couldn't be more happy to spend the rest of my life with her. We'll do our best to go through this life slamming lecture hall doors! :)

The Bride
I first met Chad through my teammate Catherine. Catherine invited me to come to the Baptist Dorms to hang out a bit before one of our volleyball matches. As we were walking down the stairs to go to the main kitchen area, there was a handsome guy wearing a green shirt, sunglasses, boardshorts, and slippers. We walked past him and I was kind of bummed that I didn't get to meet him. Me and Cat talked for a little bit at one of the tables and the green shirt guy came down the stairs and sat with us! Cat introduced us and he told me that he thinks that we were in the same MATH100 class...which is a lecture of about 300 students so I was flattered that he noticed me in the crowd but at the same time slightly freaked out because I never met him...
Anyway I continued to attend the Baptist Collegiate Ministries weekly service and became friends with Chad. Our relationship blossomed in June '09 when he was a summer missionary on Maui and I was injured and unable to play volleyball. We both were on fire for the Lord and had great Instant Message discussions about God and other fun things. We prayerfully entered a dating relationship on Nov. 15, 2009 and really grew as a couple the next three years..
...and the rest is history ;)
